The Rector, Osun State Polytechnic, Iree who is also the Secretary of National Network for Agricultural Technical Education in Nigeria (NATEN), Dr. Jacob Olusola Agboola has stressed the need for strong collaboration between Industrial Trainees of students and Institutions of higher learning in the country.
Dr. Agboola stated that good relationship and collaboration between the two bodies would enhance absolute productivity in the practical and vocational training of the students.
The Rector, according to a statement by the Media Relations Officer of the Institution, Mr. Tope Abiola stated this during a visit of representatives of United States Agency for International Development and Winrock International, an American based organization that promotes vocational training and Agricultural Technology to the Institution.
According to him, good relationship between the Industrial organizations and institutions will enhance the trainees skills acquisitions that would make them to be self reliant after their industrial training and academic pursuits.
Dr. Agboola who disclosed that the industrial reports from employers of labour of the institutions diplomates in Engineering, Media and Financial organizations and other industries have been very encouraging, maintained that the polytechnic would not relent in its efforts to produce graduates that would be employers of labour rather than job seekers.
He enthused that the polytechnic would also collaborate with the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), the Osun State Youth Empowerment Scheme (OYES) in the training of youths on vocational and entrepreneurial skills.
Dr. Agboola also declared that the institutions partnership with the USAID and Winrock international on farmer-to-farmer Agricultural training scheme would enhance modern Agricultural skills and productivity in Osun state.
It would be recalled that the polytechnic was made the secretariat of National Network for Agricultural Technical Education of Nigeria (NATEN) with the appointment of the Rector as the National Secretary of the Non-Governmental Organization that was established in 2016 by about Nine Polytechnics and other Agricultural based institutions in collaboration with USAID and Winrock International for enhancement of Agricultural training in the country.
While reacting, the USAID and Winrock officials, Caroline Dunlap and John Iruaga commended the Institution for its training in technical education, skills acquisition and entrepreneurship development.
They enjoined management of the institution to facilitate cordial relationship between the polytechnic and employers of labour to enhance further skills acquisition and training of the students in order to alleviate the spate of unemployment in the country.
