A prominent traditionalist, the Araba Awo of Osogbo land, Chief Ifayemi Elebuibon, has commended the Osun State Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola for his concern towards the promotion of African Traditional Religion.
Elebuibon, who was fielding questions from journalists on Sunday said, the governor has laid a good examples for recognising the Yoruba culture and tradition since he assumed the office.
The famous Elebuibon who will be celebrating his 70th birthday’s ceremony come July this year informed that, it is a taboo for any Yoruba’s to be ignoring the culture and tradition of his or her origin.
The Araba Awo who emphasised that, culture suppose to start in the various homes of every parents, admonished parents to be training their children Yoruba culture and tradition.
According to the Ifa Priest, “Every Yoruba parents should teach their children how to be speaking Yoruba dialect fluently, they must value it while they must know how to be respecting elderly people in the society by prostrating, kneeling down and share with them the history of the olden days that would also guide them”.
Elebuibon, who emphasised the need for government at all levels to include Yoruba Subject in the school curriculum, condemned some parents putting prominent on foreign language like English while abandoning their own.
Elebuibon, who used the medium to appreciate some Yoruba leaders who have been promoting the culture and tradition of Yorubas not only in Nigeria but all over the world, said it is now time for every Oduduwa sons and daughters to rise towards the unity of the entire Yoruba speaking communities.
