The first lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Aisah Buhari , the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and other top functionaries of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) including the state governors are billed to attend the special prayer organized by the first class paramount ruler, Oluwo of Iwo, HIM Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi for president Muhammed Buhari.
The prayer scheduled to hold on Thursday at the palace of the monarch in Iwo, Osun State is to supplicate for sound health and direction for the country`s leaders especially president Buhari, Governor Rauf Aregbesola and the entire people of the country.
The hint was contained in a press statement by the monarch`s press secretary, Alli Ibraheem. It could be recalled that Oluwo has announced earlier before the arrival of president Buhari to hold a special prayer for the first citizen, saying prayers for one`s leaders are prayers for one`s country.
Top government functionaries including ministers, special advisers, traditional rulers, state governors, speakers, deputy speakers, religious leaders and officials of Osun State Government are to grace the prayer procession for the president.
The procession is to be chairman by the speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt.Hon. Mudashiru Obasa while the Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland, Alhaji Dawud Akinola will lead other religious leaders to Iwo for the prayer.
Oluwo appealed to Nigerians to eschew from bitter politics and support their leaders with prayers irrespective of their political affiliation. He said the prayer is never political but needed to seek for sound health for the country`s public servants to pilot the affairs of Nigeria constructively.
According to the Oluwo “Nigerians should learn to eschew from politics of hatred. Politicians should eschew playing politics bitterness even at the detriment of human life. Supplicating for leaders is one of the qualities of a patriotic citizens irrespective of political parties. Either you belong to party A or B, your president is Buhari. And for our collective interest, one of the best we can do as a patriot Nigerian is to pray for sound and direction to lead us. Praying for the country is as praying for oneself. Nigerians need Buhari.” Oluwo.
“As a responsible father of all Nigerians, I feel sad and discontented witnessing any of my sons and daughters falling sick. I prefer to be in their shoe and redirect them to God rather than my children. I`m laying example that must be emulated by all and sundry. If you are a father and you have a child that cannot speak and fell sick, as a responsible father, you pray to God for the child`s recuperation because his health is your health”
Oluwo implored Nigerians most especially traditional rulers to imbibe the spirit of patriotism with prayers for leaders. He said monarch`s precedence is acute to make Nigeria great.
