The Founder and President of The Polytechnic, Ile-Ife, Osun State, Dr Ramon Adegoke-Adedoyin has urged the newly graduated students of the institution to learn how to be self employed and tackle challenges of unemployment in the country.
Adedoyin, made this call on Saturday during the 20th Institution’s Convocation Ceremony of 1014 students for its 2013/2014 and 2016/2017 academic session with 216 graduands with National Diploma(ND) while 798 graduated with Higher National Diploma(HND).
Adedoyin, also advised the graduands to be innovative and exceptional in whatever areas of lives they find themselves.
The founder, hinted that institution has concluded plans to ensure that graduating students access interest free loan which would afford them opportunity to start their own businesses.
According to him: “We have equipped them with entrepreneural skills and we are ready to help them to start their own business base on what they have learnt.
“We have told them ( the graduands), that they should gather themselves into five or ten in a group base on the training they have learnt and apply through the school to the bank. And each of the group would be given a sum of N5-10m depending on their projection”.
Describing the notion as wonderful development, Adedoyin assured that, the graduating students would access the loan without any collateral security, saying they would only monitor them for proper usage.
Asking whether the loan opportunity would be extended to the public, the President said it was strictly meant for the students of the institution.
Commenting on the output of the graduates, the Maye of the Source, posited that graduates of the institution could compete favourable with their counterparts across the nation and the world at large.
He said: “Reports from industries, organizations, government establishment among others indicate that our graduates are well cultured. The culture of hard work, commitment, dedication and consistent, self-confidence and faith in God, what we imbibe in them really pay off as no single one of them is found wanting in their various areas of human endeavour
“The polytechnic has so far turned out graduates who are gainfully employed in both public and private sectors of the economy and they are positively contributing to the development of the nation in diverse spheres, thus the philosophy, goals and objectives of the establishment of this institution are fulfilled.
Urging the graduands on the need to put in all what they have learnt, Adedoyin said “My graduating students, let me tell you that challenges are meant to be overcome. Do not turn your back to challenges in life .
The Rector of the institution, Reverned Siyanbola Theophilus Olabode advised the graduating students to be good ambassadors of the institution.
Olabode, said it was a matter of joy that the graduands have been found worthy both in character and leaning. They have proved and distinguished themselves as worthy ambassadors of this institution.
