A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed by the Osun State Polytechnic, Iree with authorities of Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo for the running of Bachelor Degree programmes in the state own polytechnic.
According to a press release signed by the Media Relations Officer of the Institution, Mr. Tope Abiola and made available to newsmen in Osogbo, the collaboration would afford the students to further enrich themselves with both practical and theoretical knowledge needed to nourish their skills and expertise they had already acquired in their various disciplines.
The release explained that, the programme was designed to enable Higher National Diploma holders to convert to Bachelor Degrees in relevant areas of their studies, while those who had earlier possessed Bachelor Degrees, but willing to run a Top–Up programme in another discipline related to their areas of studies could also have the opportunity.
While signing the Memorandum of Understanding, the Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. Jacob Olusola Agboola declared that about 37 courses were accredited recently for the Institution, both at the National and Higher National Diploma levels by National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).
Dr. Agboola, maintained that collaboration with the University would enable graduates of the Polytechnic who had Higher National Diploma (HND) and others from other Institutions to actualize their dreams of having Bachelor Degrees which could enable them to go for further Post Graduate studies in Masters and Doctoral programmes.
According to the Rector, “Osun State Polytechnic is ranked the best 5th in Nigeria and 37 course of studies are fully accredited for us by the NBTE recently. Our collaboration will be fruitful and improve the standard of education in Nigeria. We beheve in the standard of your University and with this relationship, teeming youths who are dreaming of having Bachelor Degrees will have the opportunity.”
While reacting the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Dapo Asaju who lauded the bold step taken by management of Osun State Polytechnic Iree to stress hands of academic fellowship to the university enthused that “we dont just collaborate with any Institution, but the standard and credibility we saw in your Institution, when our team visited the Polytechnic to assess the quality of your equipment and staff endeared us to collaborate with you.
I urge you to maintain the standard and reputation. Our University operates on standard, credibility and discipline which I believe you also have”.
