Ogun Restates Commitment To Accessible Education
The Ogun State government has reiterated the commitment of the Dapo Abiodun-led administration to increase access to education and provide infrastructure for public schools across the State.
The Executive Chairman, Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board, Dr. Femi Majekodunmi stated this while laying of construction of a 3 blocks of Classrooms at Community Primary School, Ilupeju, Oja-Odan, Yewa-North Local Government Area of the State.
According to him, “The attention of the Board has been drawn to a viral story by BBC News Pidgin Facebook handle on the subject of non-conducive environment of Community Primary School, Ilupeju, Oja-Odan in Yewa-North Local Government Area of the State,”
He said that the Governor has mandated the Board to start the construction of a block of three Classrooms with office and store at Community Primary School, Ilupeju, Oja-Odan, noting that all necessary machinery has been put in place to provide other infrastructure like toilets, furnitures and instructional materials.
Majekodunmi, in a state signed by the Board’s Press Officer, Mr. Bola Ogunsanwo, noted that the rot in some of the primary schools have been there before this administration came on board, saying that Governor Dapo Abiodun should be commended for having executed over 900 projects in schools across the State within two years of his administration.
“Indeed, there are 230 ongoing projects, ranging from construction and rehabilitation of classrooms and toilets, provision of pupils and teacher’s furniture in the Ogun West Senatorial Districts.
“Even, in the neighbourhood of Ilupeju, Oja-Odan, there are ongoing projects in Community Primary School, Papa Olosun, Oke-Odo, Yewa-North Local Government School I, II, III and IV, all close to Community Primary School, Ilupeju, Oja-Odan,” Majekodunmi said
He then warned the Headteachers in the government’s schools across the Three Senatorial District to shun granting interviews to unknown media, so as to avoid embarrassing government, noting that government would do everything possible within its folds to provide conducive environment for learning across the State.
Also, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Primary And Secondary Education, Mrs. Ronke Soyombo said that the government was committed to providing staff training and carrier development opportunities to support teachers in delivering an excellent service across the State.
Responding, the Headteacher Ilupeju Nursery and Primary School, Oja-Odan, Mrs. Adeosun Modupe appreciated the state government and the SUBEB team for its visitation and quick laying of 3 blocks of classrooms for the community, saying that it was their pleasure to teach now in a very conducive classrooms.
Some of the villagers who spoke with the SUBEB teams, Mr. Olaoye Olayode and Mrs. Omoeni Obalana hailed the quick intervention of the government in building of another classrooms in the geographical area within the community, saying that their joys knows no bounds.
