The Malaysia Chapter of the Oodua Progressive Union (OPU) has raised the alarm over what it called “the ridiculous action of a Yoruba Association in Malaysia mocking the culture by parading one individual as the Aare Yoruba in Malaysia”.
The Coordinator of OPU in Malaysia, Prince Olawale Ayinla who raised the alarm via a statement ,said it has become necessary to inform the Nigeria High Commission Malaysia, Yoruba people in Malaysia, all Nigerians in Malaysia and the general public, that “we Oodua Progressive Union Malaysia and the entire population of Yorubas in Malaysia have disassociated ourselves from the ridiculous action of a Yoruba Association in Malaysia who recently mocked Yoruba Cultutre with the illegal conferment of the Aare Malaysia title on an individual”
Condemning the development, the Coordinator said the community of Yorubas in Malaysia does not have a king nor recognise any so called Aare of Yoruba in Malaysia”
The OPU Chief quoted the Imperial Majesty Alaafin of Oyo OBA Lamidi Adeyemi as haven warned that nobody should install any person or individual as OBA of Yoruba in diaspora or Cultural title without an approval from Council of Obas of Yoruba land .
He stated further that the issue has been reported to the appropriate quarters for necessary action against what he described as the “uncultured attitude of some Yoruba group disrespecting the instructions of His Royal Majesty the Alafin of Oyo” the Malaysia coordinator mentioned that the cultured natives in the Asia country had expected that “Otunba Kola Olotu, Afobaje of Agodo and Sheu Sanu Sani who came to Malaysia to conduct this destabilising event should know better as Elders by finding out details of our existence here, before dancing to the tune of these individuals.
“We expected them to propagate unity and oneness of Yoruba globally and should not have allowed themselves to be severely dragged into the purported mess of this set of individuals ushering division amongst Yoruba in Malaysia”.
According to the Coordinator, a letter will be dispatched immediately to the office of His Majesty Alafin Oyo Oba Lamidi Adeyemi and The Ambassador of Nigeria to Malaysia in condemnation of the unethical attitude “of a group of people in Malaysia who claimed to belong to an unregistered association tagged YCM, though very few in number”
Promising to sanitise the Yoruba community in Malaysia of destructive elements, the OPU Chief assured that “investigation will be carried out and all those involved in this embarrassing and disrespect to Yoruba land and our culture will be reprimanded for their action by the appropriate quarters.”
He thus enjoined “all genuine Yoruba descendants and other Nigerian tribal communities with the general public to disregard and disassociate themselves from such group or self made Aare of Yorubas in Malaysia whose careless action can promote disunity and affect the peace we are promoting among all Yorubas in Malaysia”

In response to the cheap publicity stunt and illegal accusation by OPU, its leaders Olawale Ayinla (Awala) and Luqman Adedire (Ebony), let me remind you that Yoruba Community Malaysia was established in the year 2008, when was OPU established?
We all know you all came to YCM to seek our approval and support before OPU was established as a club in 2016, just 1 year ago, this is why your accusations is laughable lol.
I want to ask you all some simple questions, but before that, i'll like to correct you that YCM is not an association, YCM is not a club, YCM simply means Yoruba Community Malaysia, we are a "Community" and since you don't know better, I need to correct that fact.
Again, your spelling is worrisome, its "Aare" not "aree" lol.
So now to the questions; Tell me, what are the criteria to make an Aare (President)?
What makes the Aare fake?
What organization is OPU, what do you stand for and what have you done for the Yoruba people (community) in Malaysia?
Could you please provide proves that Our Royal Father, His Imperial Majesty, Alaafin of OYO made such a declaration?
Please give evidence of your claims against the new Aare of Yoruba Community Malaysia (YCM).

Let me attend to your senseless comment one by one. As one of the founding member of Yoruba Association Malaysia YAM which a bunch of people who are less than 20 people changed to YCM which is also an Association without any form of registration in Malaysia. Secondly,the Coordinator of OPU Malaysia and Treasurer OPU Worldwide is Prince Olawale Suleiman Ayinla who is a bonafide son of Yoruba land from one of the Royal ruling family of Ijagbo, Oyun local government of Kwara State and likewise Alhaji Lukman Adedire the Secretary of OPU Malaysia who is a native of Ile Ife. If you are well educated enough in Yoruba Culture and duties of executives of any organisation then you will realise how derailed you are by taking their reactions over YCM on your unethical behaviour personally against them. It is their duty to release statement agreed upon by all members of their organisation. So get wise and start thinking professionally. I can see that you are not well educated on what OPU Worldwide represent and l will educate you on that. OPU Malaysia is just a chapter among more than 88 chapters of OPU Worldwide and let me clear your sleeping brain that an association with less than 20 members cannot question what OPU represents in the development of Yoruba culture and bringing Yoruba children around the world together. I should be asking the bunch of uneducated illiterates who call themselves YCM Executives who do you represent and what impact have your association have in development of Yoruba community in diaspora? Today all OPU members are privileged to buy land in OPU Estate project in Ikorodu, Lagos State and have a beautiful three bedroom house ready to move in when they arrive home, that is just one among many more benefits that comes with membership of OPU Do you have that YCM? No! you will not because your leadership are loosers who cannot return home so they will not advice you to join OPU Malaysia and start to develop network of brothers and sisters of Yoruba land around the world and at home that will receive you when Malaysia deport you back home one day. My advise to you and your YCM members. OPU is not about Malaysia but about home . Yorubas say Ile la bo simi oko. It is only Yorubas without dream of returning home that will not embrace this opportunity given to us on a platter of gold by Aare Dr Gani Adams the Global Convener of OPU Worldwide and your choosing an Aare as your best translation of President of an association is gross disrespect for Yoruba culture and our great leader Aare Dr Gani Adams the New Aare Onakakanfo.

The breeze has blown and we have seen the yansh of the fowl, From information gathered now that one Mr Adesope who came to confer the illegal chieftaincy title in Malaysia because of the little stipend giving to him by one hypocrite planted in our OPU forum(note that this same person is the one giving details and info about YCM meetings..Imu Ma nika koje ki agborun asebi) was a breakaway faction of Dr Fredrick led OPC in 2015,however it is well understood that Mr Adesope was sponsored by some scrumptious elements to foster the efforts of our Highly Esteemed Converner Aare Onakankanfo Otunba Gani Adams who is fighting endlessly to propagate oneness and unity of Yorubas worldwide, it’s a clear fact that these set of fishy persons are destined to be failures in everything they aspire because he is known to all these act of hullabaloo and that is why he is bundled out of Dr Fredrick led Opc. He is the first Nigeria with a billboard picture of him at Kuala Lumpur International Airport KLIA for 3 years.
Today he his the champion promoter of trade and investment development between Malaysia and Nigeria.
Today he is also the first Yoruba Executive of NIDO Asia.
Now let one of you who can challenge this great achievement come out and show us.
When we started OPU here you senseless YCM members went defaming OPU that we are militant and traditionalist. Prince Olawale S Ayinla extended a hand of peace towards uniting YCM many times, did you guys accept?

Remember! You're not even registered with Malaysian government and constitutionally you can't register the name with Nigeria In Diaspora Organization Malaysia(NIDO- MY) because it comprises of all the Yorubas in Malaysia.
And as you know Oodua Progressive Union (OPU) is NOT under you and it can't NEVER be under you.
