The Senator representing Osun West Senatorial District, Senator Adelere Orilowo has condemned the attack on Governor Gboyega Oyetola, the Osun State Governor by some hoodlums during the #EndSARS protest in Osogbo, Osun State on Saturday.
This was contained in a press statement made available to The Drum Online by his office. Senator Orilowo said, I condemn in strongest terms the attack on Governor Gboyega Oyetola during his solidarity walk with #EndSARS protesters in Osogbo yesterday.
Events like this erode the gains made by our hardworking youths who are toiling day and night to see a better Nigeria.
It is shameful for thugs and hooligans to take the opportunity of a genuine agitation to launch a scathing attack on the Executive Governor of our State, Ogbeni Gboyega Oyetola and also embark on a looting spree of businesses within the metropolis.
I urge the security agencies to act professionally and within the confine of the law in fishing out the perpetrators of this dastardly act.
May I also reiterate my support and empathy with those genuinely calling for institutional reforms in our country, but allowing thugs, miscreants and criminals to hijack such a genuine call is totally condemnable and unacceptable.
