The Chairman, Nigerian Union of Journalists, Lagos Council, Dr. Quasim Akinreti swore in the fourth Chairman of Photojournalists Association of Nigeria (PJAN) Lagos Chapter and five other Executives members of the Association at a well attended ceremony held on Saturday 29th, August, 2020 at Ladi Lawal Press Centre, NUJ Secretariat located on Iyalla Street Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos.
Dr Akinreti while addressing the gathering promised to work with the newly swore in PJAN Executives in many ways one of them being the plans by NUJ Lagos to arrange a part time Photography Diploma course at Nigeria Institute of Journalism Ogba for PJAN members to acquire more professional training.
He advised the new executives to be prudent with the Association funds as well as keep proper record of spendings and transactions that will showcase transparency and accountability.
He asked the newly swore in executives to extend their hands of fellowship to the aggrieved members of the Association who recently formed a parallel group and conducted a kangaroo parallel election to destabilized the Association with the aim of dividing the Association into two groups while bearing the same name in the same NUJ Lagos Council.
The newly swore in Chairman, Mr Kola Olasupo while reading his acceptance speech promised to deliver his seven point agenda that will transform the Association from where it is now to an eviable height.
He promised to commission PJAN Secretariat in December of this year with the supports of his friends.
The former Treasurer of the Association now turned Chairman of the Association went on to say that “he will work with every members of the Association to achieve the needed desired results”
The Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Mr Kola Akinro thank the members for their support throughout the electioneering period.
He thank NUJ Lagos for standing by the Association in conducting a successful election.
The out going Chairman of the Association, Mr Ademola Akinlabi while reading his valedictory speech said that “this is the first time in the history of the Association that one executive will successfully hand over to another executive”
He thank the members for giving him the needed support during his tenure.
He went on to enumerate his achievement during his three years in office as chairman of the Association urging the in- coming executives to work hard and suppress the achievement of the out- going Executives.
The swearing ceremony was attended by over forty members of the Association, NUJ delegation led by the Chairman, Dr Quasim Akinreti, NUJ Lagos Secretary, Mr Edifa, NUJ Lagos Internal Auditor, Mr Isaac Ayodele who represents PJAN at NUJ, Past Chairmen of the Association, elders of the Association and well wishers.
