Ahead of the September 2018 governorship election in Osun State, elders in Ileogbo, the base of the leading guber aspirant, Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi, has thrown their weight in support of their son.
The elders declared their support at the 3rd bursary disbursement to the indigenous students of higher institutions and conferment of honorary award of Destiny Helper on the Asiwaju of Ileogbo, Chief R. A Nafiu by the Club Omega Ileogbo.
Notable personalities, opinion leaders and stakeholders of the ancient city gathered at Ileogbo City Hall last Saturday to be part of the epoch making event of Club Omega , Ileogbo. The ground turned a challenging occasion to market the governorship ambition of the business magnate, Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi being a member and former 2-term president of the club.
20 students of different higher institutions were given #10,000 cash each while an orphan was given an undisclosed amount.
Speaking at the event, Chief Nafiu described the gesture of the club as his glory, for, he feels fulfilled whenever his school products are shining in their field of engagement.
The Asiwaju said he spent his time and money in nurturing children to greatness, saying his internal fulfilment is witnessing the success of his wards.
He tasked club omega to be responsive to the political aspiration of Ogunbiyi, noting that it is one of their primary assignments pending his emergence as the number one citizen of Osun State.
In his address, the president of the club omega, Alhaji Dele Ayanboye disclosed the award conferred is in reciprocate of the sweat of Asiwaju who rescued all the clubs members from the pool of wastefulness to ocean of success.
He said most of them were properly nurtured at Luther King’s College, Ileogbo under strict monitoring to become someone. He said celebration of Baba Nafiu will give him joy and a strengthen challenge for others to emulate.
Political calculator, Professor of Forensic Accounting and one time presidential aspirant, Bashorun of Ileogbo, Prof. Pade Aderibigbe commended the club for her consistency in promoting educational standard in Ileogbo, stating absence of jealousness has sustained the club so far.
Prof. Pade admonished the beneficiaries of the bursary to convert the privilege to a testimony in the nearest future.
The proprietor of Omoloye Group of Schools, Chief Omoloye Ogundeji said education is the key to all opportunities, appealing to students to give priority to formal learning.
The president of the umbrella body of all the associations in Ileogbo, Ileogbo Unity Forum (IUF), Prince Remi Osuolale charged the beneficiaries to emulate the testimonies of members of club omega earned through commitment to education and instructions of their tutors.
Others presence were the former IUF president, Engineer Atolagbe Ajani, IUF Vice President, Hon. Sikiru Oyelakin, IUF Publicity secretary, Dr. TUNDE Adedokun, the proprietress of Royal Ambassador International College, Mrs. Akanmu, Mr. Serif Makinde and some dignitaries.
All elders presence unanimously declared their support to the gubernatorial ambition of Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi.
