Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of the State of Osun has assured that the State government would review cases of local government workers who were recently demoted for embarking on further studies without approval.
The Governor who gave the assurance on Wednesday at a meeting with the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) in the State held at the Local Government Service Commission, Osogbo, said the demotion of the affected workers would be reversed.
He thanked officials and members of NULGE in the State for their support for his administration and pledged his government’s continued commitment to workers’ welfare, particularly ensuring prompt payment of their salaries and entitlements.
Oyetola further disclosed that his government’s plan to begin construction of 5 kilometres of road in each of the local governments in the state was aimed at taking development to the grassroots. He, however, urged all civil servants to support the government in its drive to increase the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the State, pledging judicious utilisation of the resources for the benefits of all.
Earlier in his address, the President of Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Comrade Adeyeye Adedeji Jacob, commended the governor for being committed to workers’ wellbeing, as demonstrated in the full payment of salaries as and when due and pledged the readiness of local government workers to support Governor Oyetola’s administration.
