As preparation towards 2018 Hajj Operation gathers momentum, the Osun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has called on the National Hajj Commission to extend the registration date already slated for March ending in other to accommodate some intending pilgrims that are yet to register.
The Executive Secretary of the board, Alhaji Sikiru Adetona Alao made the call while answering questions from Journalists in his office on their readiness towards this year Hajj Operation.
Alao said, no fewer than 200 applicants have already shown interest and paid part of the hajj fees which is according to him, quite low looking at the deadline period given by the National Hajj Commission.
Alao who attributed the effect of low patronage this year to the current economy problem confronting the nation highly commended the state governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola for his unflinching support to the board all the time.
The Executive Secretary said, it would be better if the March ending deadline given by the national body regulating the hajj be shifted a bit to April to pave way for more patronage.
Alao emphasised that, the board has concluded all arrangements to make this year hajj a wonderful one as it was before.
The board Executive Secretary further reiterated efforts of the board in making life more comfortable for all their pilgrims while calling on all the Community leaders, local governments, Imams and other stakeholders to join the board in the awareness towards this year hajj operation.
Alao however disclosed that there are more opportunities for those that are yet to show interest as normal process towards this year hajj would commence in earnest in the state.
