2018 CONSULTATIONS: LASUN ADVOCATE FOR WOMEN

Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon Sulaimon Lasun Yussuff has stressed the importance of empowering women in the society, saying that any nation that neglects women can never develop.

This was disclosed in a Press Statement issued by Wole Oladimeji who is the Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Speaker and made available to Journalists in Osogbo.

Deputy Speaker who was responding to questions during the continuation of his consultations round the state towards his governorship ambition in 2018 election maintained that women occupy more than half of population of any society or nation.

He said that women are more prudent than men and they can manage resources far more than men, “therefore, for any‎ society to grow or develop, women factor should be taken seriously.

‎”What is missing in development efforts in Nigeria is the neglection of women as basis for Nigerian development. Women are more than ordinary beings who can just be pacified with an unrealisable affirmative percentage of engagement”, he added.

According to the Deputy Speaker House of Representatives, women are naturally immuned from frivolity of office which men always flagrantly expressed while in political offices.

He also noted that women have more than 50% of any country’s population globally, so, if direct development approach is not directed to women, that human sector is not only excluded from development efforts but a larger percentage of that country is excluded .

He was of the opinion that women need just a little, which they will naturally manage to spur themselves to wealth. Whereas if men are given such resources it will be spent on frivolity.

Deputy Speaker stated that the consultation‎ he embarked upon round this state is to strengthen All Progressives Congress in Osun State.

Rt.Hon Lasun Yussuff who had visited elders in Ilobu, Erin, Ifon, Osogbo, Ikirun, Obaagun, Ikire, Apomu, Orile-Owu Ikoyi, Gbanga in Ayedire Irewole and Isokan local government ‎and to inform them about his ambition to contest for governorship in the 2018 election.

According to him, “Political consultation is all about familiarization of oneself with the co- party members. It is also about measuring one’s political capacity to vie for political offices”.

“It is meant to reawaken our party (APC)that is in deep slumber. It is also to correct the misgivings that came with our party’s loss in the immediate previous elections that were held in the state”, he added.

Rt. Hon. Lasun Yussuff maintained that the efforts is to set a solid foundation for the future strength of our party. In this quest, his ambition to vie for Governorship of Osun State in 2018 is expressed vigorously in the consultation.

He assured the party leaders he met that APC will defeat any political party in the state, appealing to the people to stay committed so that APC can win the 2018 election.

Most of the places he visited, Rt Hon Lasun Yussuff‎ assured them to be resolute and believe in APC as the only party that can salvage the worst economic situation in the country.

Party Leaders visited used the opportunity to asked pertinent questions affecting the party in the state and the way out of the challenges.

The consulted critical stakeholders of the party have shown their perceptions of the party and resolved to support Rt.Hon Lasun Yusuf in his governorship ambition.
